“Raja Shivaji” Wins Hearts and Heritage: A Special Nod from Yuvraj Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati

Mumbai: The success of Raja Shivaji is no longer just about numbers—it’s about legacy, emotion, and a deep sense of pride. Backed by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company, the historical epic has been steadily winning over audiences since its theatrical release on May 1, coinciding with Maharashtra Day.

Amid glowing reviews from both Marathi and Hindi audiences, the film received a particularly meaningful endorsement from Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati—the 13th direct descendant of the legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In a heartfelt social media post, it was revealed that a special screening had been organised in Kolhapur through Sanyogitaraje Chhatrapati.

The post praised the film’s “excellent” performances and commended its thoughtful portrayal of key historical figures, including Sambhaji Raje, Shahaji Maharaj—the visionary behind Swarajya—and Rajmata Jijau Maasahib. For many, this acknowledgment felt like a bridge between cinematic storytelling and living history.

Actor-producer Riteish Deshmukh responded with visible emotion, expressing gratitude for the royal validation. “Hearing your response makes me feel like the burden on me has become a little lighter,” he shared, calling for continued blessings with a heartfelt “Jai Shivray.”

At the box office, Raja Shivaji continues its impressive run, collecting ₹37 crore net since release—an indicator that audiences are connecting deeply with the story. Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh, the film stands as a grand tribute to one of India’s greatest icons.

Blending scale with soul, Raja Shivaji is more than a film—it’s a cinematic homage that celebrates courage, vision, and the enduring spirit of Swarajya.
